It was only a matter of time until another hard-luck kitten came into my life. Meet Emma, my new foster kitten who will be available for adoption very shortly. Emma was thrown from a car but she is doing fine thanks to the loving care of a local vet & his awesome staff.
She’s adorable, right? She purred during her bath and gave us thank-you-for-saving-me kisses.

It’s par for the course around here, unfortunately. Michigan is the heart of the auto industry, after all. Now that I think about it, every region has its own way of torturing animals. In Puerto Rico, they throw animals off bridges. Maybe a car is more humane.

I do a lot of volunteer work with animal charities and it’s hard not to be in a constant state of outrage about the way people treat animals. (The only bright spot is seeing responsible pet owners come to the low-cost spay and neuter and vaccination clinics.)
I realized the other day that each one of my cats has an unfortunate story:
Velcro - tied into a pillowcase and left in a Salvation Army drop box
Xena - taken from a cat hoarder
Velvet - kicked out of the house by her owners and left to wander the streets
It makes me want to save ALL THE KITTIES.
Hopefully there is a special hell that people who are cruel to animals go to when they die.
how can somebody look at that cute little face and throw it out of a car? People never cease to amaze me with their cruelty.
