My Full-Time Job

30 03 2008

It’s not Human Resources.

It’s not working at Starbucks.

It’s taking care of my cat, Lucy, who has another vet appointment on Monday afternoon. I’m going to spend some time prepping my car — plastic sheets, towels, Nature’s Miracle — to get ready for the 16 minute journey to the vet’s office.

If she pees in my car, again, I must just lose it.

Wish us luck, yo!

So, how did it go?

By the way, is Lucy the old one that doesn’t do much or the one that hides? Inquiring minds want to know.

PS Nature’s Miracle is awesome stuff. Even cleans wood floors!

Oh wenchie, what a day. We didn’t go because another cat, Molly (we think), got mad at me and peed on my winter coat. So I had to truck it to Pet Supplies Plus and buy Dr. Elsey’s Cat litter (which I always recommed in these situations), Feliway Spray, and a Feliway diffuser.

To recap, I’ve two pee incidents in a week. I’ve had a cats as an adult for 15 years and this has never happened in my whole entire life. We understand Lucy’s incident (stress) but the jacket has me at a loss. It might be a metaphor since I’m going to/from Chicago. I’m leaving (stress) and coming home and not paying as much attention to them (more stress). The husband bought a motion detector webcam and we’re putting his PhD to use — we’ll be conducting scientific experiments. More to follow.

Jake — skittish
Molly — the husband’s cat who wants to slit my throat
Scrubby — star of his own show
Emma — the orphan kitty thrown from a car

Thank goodness my vet charges reasonable prices. I’ve seen him a whoooole lot recently. I did a breed rescue in January, bringing back a girl who had a persistent case of upper respiratory infection. She’s still a bit wheezy, but at least we’re done (I hope) with the weekly visits.

How does Lucy manage to get that much, er, residue dripping out of the carrier?

Nature’s Miracle = amazing.

@Perrik — You are awesome. Those URIs are so pesky and take forever to go away. My problem? Lucy lifts her tail and sprays. It doesn’t take much from a 10lb maine coon kitty to make a car smell like cat pee. Thank god we have nature’s miracle. I’m going out with boss of one, tomorrow, and will ask her to do the sniff test.
