Offer them what they secretly want and they of course immediately become panic-stricken. – Jack Kerouac
This upcoming week for HR professionals feels like it will be a doozy. Furloughs are the new layoffs. Remote work is still messy. And even procurement teams are coming to HR and flipping out because very few companies have done a good job of supply network mapping and building a strategy for when both FTEs and contingent labor pools have been disrupted.
Good luck with all that, my friends.
Congress passed the CARES act, which is a mostly terrible piece of legislation for America with a few scraps thrown in there for workers and small businesses. We’re all figuring this out on the fly, which is why Monday’s guest on the Punk Rock HR podcast is so timely. It’s Kate Bischoff, and we discuss the ‘rona and your questions.
I’ve also started a weekly newsletter with video tips, resources and ideas for improving the world of work. At some point soon, I’ll have book updates. (Lordy, that’s coming.) You can sign up below, and I promise not to spam you with political rants.
Okay, I can’t promise that.
Have a great week, everybody!
