I’m militantly opposed to working for free.
Companies love to pay people in culture and opportunities, but I can’t pay my American Express card with hope and possibility.
But I do work for free sometimes.
Four times a year, I’ll speak for free to not-for-profit groups, student organizations, and professional associations that are aligned with my worldview. Although these aren’t “keynote events,” I bring my best self to the event and try to deliver a keynote-style experience.
I held back on booking those four slots for 2020 until now.
