Punk Rock HR Episode 97:

Spoiler alert! Nobody’s fixing work, not even me. I’m not living up to the Let’s Fix Work brand promise, and there’s nothing worse than a brand that doesn’t deliver. So, it’s time to flip the script. It’s time to say good-bye to Let’s Fix Work and hello to a podcast with a little bit more of an attitude. Perhaps a little bit more punk rock

Let’s Fix Work is a thing of the past. It’s time to welcome in a new iteration of the show – Punk Rock HR. In this episode, I share the story behind the new name, my goals moving forward, and what you can expect to hear. Punk Rock HR is here, and it’s an edgier and entertaining look at how people think they are fixing the world of work.

In this episode you’ll hear:

  1. What a blog and a shaved head have to do with the name Punk Rock HR
  2. Some of my goals for the next iteration of the podcast
  3. Why I plan to only interview guests who have a freaking podcast microphone!

KEY TAKEAWAYS

WHAT IS THE MEANING BEHIND THE NAME PUNK ROCK HR?

When I was very young, I embodied what it means to be punk rock, including having a shaved head and piercings. This jerk I worked with asked, “Who do you think you are, a Punk Rock HR?” And the answer was,” Yeah, man. I do.” Then, early in my career, I wrote a blog of the same name. I really tried to be super aggressive, in order to prompt a global conversation about the world of work. It’s an iconic brand in the world of human resources; people still joke about it today.

WHY ARE YOU CHANGING THE PODCAST FORMAT?

Nobody’s fixing work, not even me. I’m not living up to the Let’s Fix Work brand promise, and there’s nothing worse than a brand that doesn’t deliver. I want to have tough conversations with people who are and are not fixing the world of work.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM PUNK ROCK HR?

For this next iteration of my podcast, the goal is to bring you tough but fair conversations with people who think they’re fixing the world of work. Maybe they are, and perhaps they aren’t. I am going to challenge people on what they’re doing, in an entertaining and possibly edgier way.
